产品详情

1. Background of the combination of biobased products and coatings

Bio based products: materials made from renewable resources such as plants, microorganisms, and agricultural waste, such as bio based plastics (PLA, PHA), wood products, bio fiber composite materials, etc.

Environmental drive: Traditional petroleum based coatings contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds), while bio based coatings can reduce carbon footprint and comply with global carbon reduction policies (such as the EU Green Deal).

2. Types of biobased coatings

(1) Biobased resin coating

Raw materials: vegetable oil (soybean oil, castor oil), starch, rosin, cellulose, etc.

Application: Used for wood and packaging materials (such as paper cup coating), providing waterproof and wear-resistant properties.

Example: Epoxy soybean oil coating is used for the inner layer of food packaging.

(2) Water based bio based coatings

Features: Using water as the solvent, with extremely low VOCs content, suitable for scenarios with high environmental requirements (such as children's toys and furniture).

Case: AkzoNobel's "bio based water-based wood paint" from the Netherlands.

(3) Biodegradable coatings

Usage: Used for biodegradable packaging (PLA film), the coating itself can decompose under composting conditions.

Technology: Polylactic acid (PLA) based coatings combined with natural wax enhance barrier properties.

(4) Nano composite biological coating

Enhanced performance: Adding nanocellulose or chitosan to enhance antibacterial properties and mechanical strength.

Application: Antibacterial coating for medical equipment.

3. Key application areas

(1) Packaging industry

Food packaging: Bio based coatings replace PE coating for paper cups and meal boxes (such as the EcoCoat series in the United States).

Functional requirements: Oxygen and moisture resistance, balancing biodegradability and performance.

(2) Automobiles and Electronics

Interior parts: Bio based polyurethane coating is used for automotive instrument panels (some Toyota models use it).

Electronic products: Mobile phone cases with bio based UV curable coatings to reduce production energy consumption.

(3) Building materials and furniture

Wood coatings: Bio based water-based paints replace solvent based paints, such as some IKEA furniture using plant-based coatings.

3D printing building materials: bio based photopolymerization coatings for rapid prototyping.

(4) Textile and Medical

Fiber coating: Biobased waterproof coating (such as algal polysaccharide derivatives) used for outdoor clothing.

Absorbable medical devices: Biodegradable coatings are used for surgical sutures.
